For the first time in our adult lives, Adam and I put a bunch of work into our backyard this year. We brought in new sod, replaced the patio furniture, and planted a new garden. This evening we barbecued chicken and potatoes and ate outside while enjoying the beautiful weather. As the sun began to set, I was entranced by the light and couldn’t help myself.

These photos were taken with my Canon Rebel T6 and my new little lens, the Canon 50mm 1.8. Both of these are on the cheaper side of DSLR cameras and lenses, but I love using them because of how lightweight the entire set up is. For something so quick and on the fly, I absolutely love how these pictures turned out. Most of these flowers are perennials, so hopefully they return year after year. If not, I will love looking at these pictures and remembering our first garden.
