Tiffany and I had been talking about doing this trip for months, if not years. I think I brought up the idea of doing them at the Sand Dunes before she was even pregnant. I had this vision of these incredibly dramatic photos for a while and that vision totally came to life on this shoot. I mean, look at these!

Among the Blossoms
Dori had just picked up this perfect blue dress from Torrid and I think it was the absolute perfect complement to her hair and contrast to the pink flowers. I absolutely adore how these photos turned out, plus Dori and I had so much fun taking the pictures. It was a great way to kick off a season of taking pictures!
The Artist Known as FishWithATopHat
We had so much fun running around this area capturing these. Jess was such a trooper, even willing to climb up a tree and sit there for a while as the sun set so we could capture a perfect sky behind her.
A Forest Fairy Tale
Adam and I had planned this whole epic fairy tale shoot so I would get the opportunity to wear my wedding dress again before it went into long-term storage. I had debated cutting my hair off before the wedding, but my mom and bridesmaids convinced me to keep it long. I am really glad I did because I adore the long braid I ended up wearing for our big day, but this was an excellent opportunity for me to get a glimpse of what I would have looked like on our wedding day with short, blue hair.
Allie Graduates
Allie is a wonderful co-worker of mine who approached me about taking her senior photos. I was absolutely thrilled to be asked after such a rough senior year. I feel for students of all ages who had to navigate school during this pandemic and I am really proud of Allie for finishing strong. We went to UCCS and caught a beautiful sunset for her photos.
Bad Owl Coffee – A Definitely Not Harry Potter-Themed Cafe in Vegas
Way back in 2016, the internet was very excited about a Harry Potter-themed cafe opening in Nevada near Vegas. It just so happened I was going to be in Vegas around the time it opened for a book convention. I managed to hitch a ride with a fellow Potter-loving fan and went to Bad Owl Coffee, where we were delighted with the delicious food and whimsical decor. Adam and I visited again in our May 2019 trip. Here’s what we thought about it!
Penn & Teller: Pretty Magical (Though They Tell You Repeatedly They’re Not)
I had always wanted to see a Vegas magic show, and there was none better than the legendary Penn & Teller. When we arrived at the theater there was simply a plexiglass box sitting on stage as well as a wooden crate of similar size. The audience was permitted to inspect these items in preparation for the show to start.
Hunger Games: The Exhibition
Overall, the exhibit was wonderfully designed and put together. It was wonderfully quiet. As it was just beginning to open to the public, it hadn’t been largely discovered yet. This gave us the added benefit of everything being shiny and new.
My Heart Will Go On In Vegas
Celine Dion, Penn & Teller, great food, and lots of touring… our May 2019 trip. I love Vegas because it is the perfect place to take a quick trip, have a great adventure, then head home for work the next day. I have missed this special place!
